Helping Indiana Farmers New to Agritourism at Indiana Grown Symposium

As farm operations look to diversify, agritourism is an interesting option. Yet diving into having guests on the farm requires a detailed plan with liability considerations. Brianna Schroeder recently spoke at the 2024 Indiana Grown Symposium to share insight with owners and staff of newer agritourism and food-based operations.

Her session shared insight designed to help both new and established farms in Indiana—from large dairies to pumpkin farms to start up flower businesses and everything in between—learn more about legal aspects of agritourism. “Using a variety of tools, owners can mitigate risk and safeguard their business and home,” Schroeder said. She discussed insurance, contracts, case law, and statutory provisions that can help farms protect themselves.
